Amidst the garden of City Salts an immersive sound work by the Basel-based artists Deirdre O’Leary and Samuel Tschudin will resonate. On the banks of the river Birs they will present the soundsculpture «Das elektrische Zitherspiel» by Samuel Tschudin. For this year’s summer exhibition the duo have arranged a special tuning of the 108 stringed instrument, working with the momentum of the repetitive as dissolution.

Opening 15 June 6–10 pm
Soundwork 17 June 2–6 pm

About the artists:

Samuel Tschudin is an emerging musician, artist, and performer. He develops and builds mechanical instruments. He also works with field recordings and the preparation of stringed instruments. His work explores the concept of ‘soundscape’ and places it in the context of repetitive structures combined with situational impulses. His creations are characterized by his collaborative and integrative approach.
The accessibility of the world through the senses and the various ways in which the body relates to its surrounding is essential to Deirdre O’Leary. The concept of composition is central to her practice, combining text, textile, sculpture and other media. Apart from her studio-based practice, she also produces and curates exhibitions.
