Opening of “Insecurity” by artist Jorge Raka, curated by Mario Kreuzberg.
The evening will be accompanied by the music of Johnny Mancini.

We will welcome you with an open BBQ and for this beautiful occasion we will be serving anticuchos.

Jorge Raka is a Peruvian artist living and working in Sion-Valais, Switzerland. Raka studied painting and sculpture at the Art School of Pucallpa, his hometown. He obtained a scholarship to study at the School of Art of Cali-Colombia and later moved to Switzerland, where he completed a Master of Arts in Public Spheres at ÉDHEA in 2018. Raka is a member and co-founder of the collective Helvetropicxs. His artistic practice is constantly referring to popular culture and mythology featuring beauty queens, toy dogs, and satan. What seems irreverent is actually exploring deep intersecting social and personal territories. Often the work handles ideas around systemic violence, migration, progress, and exoticism. Raka creates pieces from a colloquial mixture, avoiding didactic attitudes, unified in a sense of theatrical tragic-comedy of the macabre.

Gorge Raka has shown his work at the 8th Mercosul Porto Alegre Biennial with Lugar a dudas, Bogotá International Independent Film Festival, ICPNA Lima Award, Biennial of Independent Spaces of Geneva with MACACO Press, Cantonal Museum of Art of Valais, Art Center of Neuchâtel-CAN, Museum of Modern Art la Tertulia, Lokal-int, Mario Kreuzberg/City SALTS, Backslash Zurich Festival, San Galle Performance Open Air among others.
