The project "Rencontres Plurielles" imagined by Orakle Ngoy (RDC) and Magali Dougoud (CH) brings together artists and researchers from different continents, cultures, traditions, social backgrounds, and life trajectories, as well as artistic sensibilities. Over a nine-month period, they engaged online and in-person to share their art and vision, transcending their differences to create a temporary artistic laboratory. This shared experience culminates in an installative performance spanning 2023 and 2024, echoing Octavia Butler's "Parable of the Sower," envisioning a dystopian future where the protagonist, afflicted with hyper-empathy, scribes the Book of the Living. Inspired by this narrative and the eerie correspondence of dates, the artists contemplate the porous links within and between species and their environment. The artists craft a collective ritual around various facets of their research, from uncovering colonial imprints and ghosts into plants and in the botanical gardens of Kinshasa (DRC) and Kisantu (DRC) into speculative feminist narratives on transformation.
